Many of these people help you along the way, and you need to show your appreciation for their efforts. You can say "thank you" and any number of ways – do it privately, publicly or something in between. As long as they know you are grateful, that is all that matters. You will certainly see more traffic going to your website if you show your gratitude in this manner.
Twitter is a great place to market your products. Perhaps, though, Twitter should be used to socialize. Sometimes there are chats that are niche-centric that you should participate in. So join a few and participate in what they are doing. By being personable and showing your expertise in this area, it will help you build relationships with other people. People want to interact with people that are enjoyable to talk to and fun to be around. These are a great way to not only get to know people, but to share information abroad. Totally win-win!
